7th Generations Advisors empowers individuals and organizations to create and adopt solutions that protect our environment and fight climate change, based on the ancient First Nations philosophy that the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future.
We recognize the link between climate, conservation and the health and well-being of all living things and we strive to initiate, support and implement projects that support this interconnection. We have cultivated deep partnerships in diverse issue areas that enables us to work at this intersection.
The Results of our Cold Water Wash Challenge are in!
Save energy, protect the planet and protect your clothes…
Through our Personal Climate Action Center, 7GA recently completed its first ever Cold Water Wash Challenge Campaign. Together with our partners, the Orange County Coastkeeper, Rancho Canada Elementary School and REI Tustin and Huntington Beach, for the month of August we inspired individuals to take tangible, meaningful action against climate change. The challenge was to commit to do your laundry in cold water. A simple change makes a big impact- switching to cold water can save a household up to 350 pounds of greenhouse gases a year!
Eliminating single use plastic is one way you can take action for our planet and one great way to do this is by choosing a laundry detergent that doesn’t come in a plastic bottle. A few of us at the Personal Climate Action Center have started using Tru Earth laundry strips to avoid the single use laundry plastic bottle. Since the detergent comes in the form of strips, no plastic bottle is used—instead they come in a small envelope that is great to travel with as well. This eliminates the plastic bottle from potentially ending up in our landfills or oceans. In addition, it’s lightweight which results in less transportation pollution. 94% less transportation pollution to be exact! So what a great way – start change up your laundry habits – check out Tru Earth laundry detergent strips! Even better, Tru Earth is giving our organization, 7th Generation Advisors 20% back for each purchase made through this link.
There is so much work to do to heal our planet that it can feel overwhelming to determine where to start. That’s why we launched the Personal Climate Action Center, a new initiative designed to encourage people to take individual action against climate change.
Each week we provide one action item for you to take to reduce your carbon emissions. Along with this weekly tip you will find over 80 actions on the Personal Climate Action Center website, where you can sign up and pledge to TAKE ACTION! And if you have already signed up you can log the actions you are taking each week by clicking here.
7th Generation Advisors stands in solidarity with black, indigenous and all people of color in fighting police brutality and systemic racism, including environmental racism. We recognize that, in order to stand up against injustice, we all need to do so much more. Through our work we pledge to commit ourselves to listening, learning, and helping to root out environmental racism, working towards a world that is equitable and just for all. Please visit our Environmental Justice Resource page for more information on how we are working to take action within our organization and through our work. Black Lives Matter.
